Young Photographer Competition

Pupils from Mount Charles have participated in the Rotary Club Young Photographer Competition for the last three years – in 2011 Alice won the local competition and went through to the regional finals.

We have been invited to take part again this year when the theme for the competition is:

You must submit four photographs which fit this title.  You will be asked to write a short passage to explain why you chose those particular photographs and how they sum up the theme.

Mr Simmons will collect entries in mid-January (we can even print your pictures out for you if you don’t have a printer), but with the Christmas holidays coming, now is a great time to get out there with your camera and capture some pictures to enter into the competition.

The photographs (which must be taken by a pupil) will be judged for technical merit, content and composition and the imagination and style of the shots.

So good luck and enjoy your photography.  I look forward to seeing what pictures you have taken which fit this year’s theme.

Success for Ex-Mount Charles Pupil

Congratulations to Carla Aldington, a former pupil of Mount Charles School, who has become a Young Ambassador for Sport.

Read her story here.

Carla joins other successful ex-pupils in this sporting success and serves as a reminder (like Jemma Simpson) that You Can Do It.

Follow your dream – be it in sport, music or something else.   Last week we were pleased to see many of our pupils taking part in the St Austell Music Festival – the choir earnt a merit for their performance and Mrs Carter was incredibly proud of the effort they put into their singing.

There will be a number of opportunities to hear the choir performing over the coming weeks.  We will have the Infant nativity, Christmas lunches, parties and many other festive treats – a busy few weeks coming up!
