Welcome back to a brand new school year. I have recently been working on compiling a video of all the events, visits and visitors that we enjoyed last year – it was certainly a busy year and this one promises to be just as eventful.
At the start of this term we wanted to relaunch our “You Can Do It” motto. You may remember this originally came from Jemma Simpson our ex-pupil who represented Team GB in the Beijing Olympics.
I, like I suspect most of you, was pretty much hooked on watching the Olympics this summer and on the final day, Sam Murray after winning silver in the modern pentathlon said:
“Honestly, if you have a goal – if there’s anything you want to achieve in life – don’t let anyone get in your way. You can do it. If I can do it, and I’m a normal girl, anyone can do what they want to do.”
And that is the message we are giving to all the pupils with a series of challenges throughout this term.
Perhaps you would like to leave a comment below to tell us what your lasting memories of the Olympics and Paralympics from this Summer are. Or maybe you would like to share your goal and tell us what you would like to do – because You Can Do It!
(Remember, to leave a message either click on the speech bubble at the top, or where it says ‘leave a reply’ below. Just tell us your first name and maybe what year group you are in. Where it asks for an email address, you can put firstname.lastname@example.org rather than your own address.)
