A Tudor Sailing Story by Milo & Callum
Chapter 1 - Aboard the ship
Hi, my
name’s
One day I saw my dad go to the shops, well he said he = was anyway When he
Came back he burst throw the door like a mad cow! Unexpectedly he told me I was going on a voyage with Drake if I wanted to! = 10 minutes later I rushed with my dad to go and sign up. I was very excited because I had never been to a different country before!
We got there in moments, we= were one of the first to sign up! I was on a voyage with Drake! My dad and I wai= ted to see some more of the crew. To my surprise my best friend, Callum appeared out of nowhere !<= /span> I was soon even more excited because I
Got to have a gun, dagger and even a sword! It took 3 =
weeks
to add extra parts onto the boat. We also add ve=
ry
important parts such as more cannons. After we finished adding the other pa=
rts
we had to quarantine the ship for 1 and a half weeks. At
Chapter 2 – The first weeks
As I looked back sadly at
Callum had the same job as=
me.
He showed me
what to do, and how to do it. I roamed the ship freely to find my cabin. It=
was
terrible we had to sleep
with stinky George!
The first week onboard was just getting better and bet=
ter
because I didn’t=
have to do many jobs at all! The 2 nd
and 3 rd week came. It began to get worse. Very soon I realized I had
I had to clean the poop deck, throw the poop into the =
sea
and clear the rats of the ship. It was horrible
One day I threw the poop but it flew the wrong way bec=
ause
I didn’t check for the wind and it went into the navigators face! I w=
as
in so much trouble that I had to do more jobs than ever! I was starting to =
not
like being on the ship at all.
Two days later I jumped into the barrel to get an apple
for the bottom. I over heard Drake telling the navigator to steer us toward=
s
A couple of weeks later a person named Doughty was saying Drake was intending to get treasure off the
Spanish. When Drake found out he was so furious that he beheaded him!!!
I was very worried because Drake changed the name of t=
he
Pelican to the Golden Hinde. It was meant to be bad luck.
Just as things began to settle onboard I began to like=
it
again. Suddenly the lookout person shouted “storm ahead, storm ahead
’’
We all rushed to the side of the Pelican to have a loo=
k.
The storm was massive, we were in for a rough fe=
w days
ahead!
Chapter 3 – The bad day
All that I could see was fog, clouds and lightning! I = was very sure I would be sick from the rough sea. The sail at the front kept on getting stuck and I had to carry on going onto the bow of the ship to undo = it.
I was absolutely right I was sick on stinky George, we= ll serves him right for always passing wind!
Eventually the storm died off. Suddenly the lookout pe= rson shouted “land ahoy, land ahoy”.
We all rushed to the side of the boat to have a look; straight away Drake said “ grab the boats = and muster anything you can get”.
Apparently we weren’t stopping here. They seemed= to think we were the Spanish. They fired guns at us and made holes in all of o= ur ships, except the Golden Hinde. We sailed off as quickly as possible, what = else could happen?
Chapter 4 – Good Fortune
I was ve= ry worried because we only had one more ship left and not many crew.
2 weeks had passed and everything started to settle do= wn again, then surprisingly the lookout person shouted, “land ahoy, land ahoy”! Then Drake shouted “take care this time we can’t afford to lose our ship
But, to our surprise this man was caring and he gave u= s, goats, exotic fruits such as coconuts, he gave us water, 7 tonnes of rice and some more apples for our barrel .
Yet again we set sail . We = were sailing for 5 weeks before we found the passage . We sailed as quick as possible through the passage.=
I was going home!
Chapter 5 – Back home
We sailed slowly back home.
It took 3 weeks to get back home. When Plymouth harbou= r came into sight I jumped up and down. I ran as fast as I could to Callum and I said “we’re here we̵= 7;re here”.
We rushed out to have a look . When we got off the shi= p we were welcomed by the Queen.
When we were allowed to go I ran home as fast as my le= gs would carry me and I burst in the door to my mum.
I told my mum that Drake was a bit of a grumpy guts an= d could be a bit silly at times. I al= so told her that he was also very demanding and I wouldn’t like to sail = with him again!
